UKSBS is a public sector shared service centre providing quality HR, Payroll, Finance, Procurement and IT services and expertise to our partners. We are proud of the part we play in enabling our partners to achieve the best outcomes for the British people and the UK economy.

It’s an exciting time to join UKSBS.  We will grow significantly and transform to become a very different organisation as we move to be a modern multi-platform, digitally enabled organisation delivering to nine departments of state and other public bodies. 

Reporting to the Chief Strategy & People Officer and working closely with Executive and Senior Leader colleagues, responsibilities will include, but not limited to the following:

  • People performance of the organisation, including planning, resourcing, development, and reporting.
  • As a key member of the Senior Leadership team, contribute to setting the organisational strategy and obtain agreement to five-year Business Plans and annual Operational Plans.
  • Development and implementation of an enabling People Strategy and a supportive suite of HR policies and processes, that drive leadership effectiveness.
  • Represent the People team at UKSBS Audit, Executive, Finance and Risk Committees, 
  • People risk and assurance, reporting to Executive, Audit Committee, Board and Clients. 
  • Act as an active senior champion for UKSBS across the government / public sector HR community.
  • Performance lead and develop the team’s capability

To do this role well you will need: 

  • Significant experience as a HRD or Head of HR in a public sector organisation, company or major corporate business unit. 
  • Experience of building and maintaining strong working relationships at a senior level within an organisation and with clients, suppliers, and other partners.
  • Demonstrable experience of developing and delivering HR strategies and operations to ensure an engaged workforce. 
  • Appropriate professional qualification(s).
  • Ability to think strategically and commercially.
  • Excellent team leadership skills and behaviours. 
  • Strong presentation, written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong numeracy and analytical skills informing evidence-based decisions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to influence, build and maintain strong working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders; collaborative and consultative.
  • Enthusiastic, motivated, adaptable, and proactive with the ability to work flexibly in a changing environment; highly resilient and politically astute.
