Our team supports the Home Care BG with external communications, internal communications, public affairs and sustainability strategies that align with Home Care’s growth objectives.
Strong internal communication boosts engagement, collaboration and innovation helping drive superior growth and we use multiple channels, including Town Halls (Home Care Live), Viva Engage, and creative campaigns to engage employees across the Business Group.
The role:
As Internal Communications Manager, you will be responsible for developing and delivering a clear, engaging internal communications strategy for the Business Group, ensuring employees understand the BG strategy, feel connected to its leadership and priorities, and are motivated to perform to the very best of their abilities.
Working closely with senior leaders including our BG president, global HR, our BG Chief Marketing Officer you will shape messaging and campaigns, manage global channels, and create compelling content that brings the Business Group story to life across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Planning
• Develop and execute an insight-led Business Group internal communications strategy, aligned with BG priorities and Unilever People Communications objectives.
• Use data and insights (including UniPulse, our annual employee engagement survey) to identify communication priorities and shape plans.
• Identify key internal moments (e.g. financial results, leadership updates, major business milestones) and plan communications to maximise reach and impact.
• Work with Home Care brand teams to communicate compelling stories about our innovations and key brand moments.
• Monitor and report on communications performance through regular analytics and insights, using learnings to continuously improve effectiveness and shape and evolve internal communications strategies.
Content & Channels
• Lead internal communications across global channels such as Town Halls (Home Care Live) and our employee engagement platform Viva Engage to keep them relevant, engaging and exciting.
• Create clear, engaging and creative content tailored to different employee audiences, including films and written communications.
• Drive efficiencies by amplifying relevant external stories internally by working closely with the external Home Care Communications lead.
• Take ownership of assigned stories and projects across owned channels, coordinating across teams to ensure timely and high quality delivery (10% of role).
Skills, Experience & Attributes
• Proven experience in internal communications within a large, complex or global organisation plus a degree in Communications, Journalism or a related field plus
• Strong storytelling capability, with experience in corporate or brand communications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt tone and style to different audiences.
• Confidence in engaging with senior stakeholders and influencing at all levels.
• High level of digital literacy across owned media platforms and channels.
• Strong project management skills, able to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.

NOTES
Location
In September 2020, Unilever announced the intention to build a new sustainable campus site in Kingston, London. This site will house some employees who currently work in 100 Victoria Embankment in Blackfriars together with colleagues who are currently located in Lever House in Kingston. We are excited to be creating our own Unilever sustainable, agile work environment. The campus is due to be completed in 2026.

Recruitment Fraud
Cyber criminals advertise fake job adverts with prestigious employers as a way of stealing information or even defrauding individuals out of money. In the most sophisticated cases, they will set up fake websites, which have a similar address to companies like Unilever. They even conduct fake telephone interviews and then offer candidates a role with the proviso they pay a fee for background checks or to cover work visa costs. These types of attacks are becoming more common as more people are looking for employment in the economic climate.
How is Unilever tackling this?
Many of Unilever’s recruitment sites publish a warning to candidates about recruitment fraud. The Cyber Security team also proactively scan for signs of people setting up fake Unilever sites and act to close them down.
