HR Leadership & Strategy
Description

We are looking for a Functional Academy Manager (m/f/d) to join our Tech Academy Team, with a clear mandate to strengthen how people, technology, and AI work together to drive performance and future success at Hapag-Lloyd.

The strategic opportunity of this role lies in bringing key capability domains together in day-to-day learning and enablement. Technology alone does not create impact - its value depends on how well people adopt, apply, and lead with it. Guided by the principle that people plus technology shape future success, you will help shape and evolve our learning portfolio across IT learning, AI and data enablement, and HR capability building.

The role has a strong focus on advancing technology learning, serving a large and diverse audience across the organization. You will take ownership of selected technology-related learning domains and design and deliver learning offerings that strengthen core IT, data, and AI capabilities, building on established programs and extending them to meet future needs.

Reporting into the combined CIO / CHRO scope, you will also ensure fit-for-purpose HR-related learning foundations. Through this HR capability layer, you enable and support the embedding of technology and AI requirements into roles, skills, and ways of working—ensuring that how the organization develops, manages, and leads its people keeps pace with technological change.

This is a unique opportunity to take hands-on ownership and contribute to shaping how Hapag-Lloyd develops capabilities at the intersection of IT, AI and data excellence, and human capability, at a moment where these choices will have lasting impact.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and continuously evolve learning offerings that build technical and functional capabilities across technology-, AI-, and selected HR-related topics within the CIO / CHRO scope.
  • Take hands-on ownership of selected technology-related learning domains, building on existing programs and extending them in line with future IT, data, and AI capability needs.
  • Shape structured learning pathways for different target groups—from new hires to experienced experts and managers—ensuring relevance, scalability, and practical applicability.
  • Design learning offerings that reflect the principle that people and technology shape future success, translating fast-changing technology realities into how people work, lead, and build capabilities.
  • Contribute to shaping the Tech Academy portfolio as a whole, working with peers and stakeholders to ensure coherence, strategic alignment, and effective adoption in day-to-day work.
  • Ensure fit-for-purpose HR-related learning foundations, enabling the embedding of technology and AI requirements into roles, skills, and ways of working.
  • Contribute as a trainer or facilitator for selected learning formats, particularly in technology-, AI-, or data-related fields, as required.
  • Work closely with leaders, peers, and stakeholders to support the application of learning in daily work, measure effectiveness and impact, and continuously improve learning content and delivery.

Qualifications
  • A university degree in a technology-related field (e.g. IT, digital, data, AI) or in HR, education, or learning & development with a strong technology focus, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Several years of experience in learning & development, capability building, or learning product ownership, ideally in technology- or transformation-driven environments.
  • Proven ability to take hands-on ownership of learning domains, designing, delivering, and evolving learning offerings with real operational impact.
  • A strong understanding of technology and IT topics, combined with the ability to turn technological change into practical, people-centered capability building that supports roles, leadership, and ways of working.
  • Exposure to or experience with HR-related topics (e.g. people development, performance enablement, leadership, organizational effectiveness), particularly where they intersect with technology, data, or AI.
  • Strong knowledge of instructional design, curriculum development, and modern learning methodologies across digital, hybrid, and classroom formats.
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and facilitation skills, with a structured and proactive working style in international and cross-functional environments.
  • Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus.
