Human Resources Manager Employment opportunity with Dalton Motors National City.

The successful candidate will have automotive experience, comprehensive HR knowledge, exceptional interpersonal skills, and a passion for fostering a positive work culture.
Pay: $125,000-$150,000 annually

Dalton Motors is located less than 20 minutes from most areas of San Diego. Founded in 1945, Dalton Motors is a family owned and operated business with over 35 dealerships serving major manufacturers including Subaru and others. We have ongoing training for our staff, including training from the manufacturer, new product on-line training, and job specific training by our in-house trainer. Our dealership runs smoothly in large part due to our solid processes and trained, skilled staff, many of whom have been here for twenty years or more.
Some of What You’ll do:
- Talent Acquisition/Staffing: Managing the full-cycle recruitment processes, from job postings and candidate sourcing to interviewing and onboarding, ensuring a seamless onboarding experience for new hires. This includes both partnering with/supporting the Director of Training and Development and also directing the HR team in related supporting activities.
- Training and Development: Collaborating with department heads to identify training needs and facilitate training programs to enhance employee skills and knowledge. This includes:
- Partnering with/supporting Director of Training and Development in development/delivery of content for supervisory and employee training.
- Identifying, recommending, administering delivery system for compliance and other trainings.
- Employee Relations/Performance Management: Acting as a trusted advisor to management and employees on HR-related matters, including but not limited to performance management, conflict resolution, and disciplinary actions.
- Compensation: Performing pay analysis, driving pay plan development, and advising managers in pay decisions.
- Benefits: Overseeing employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other perks. Serving as a liaison between employees and benefits providers to resolve inquiries and issues. This includes driving the annual Open Enrollment process in collaboration with benefits broker, administering retirement plans, and guiding the HR team in Leave of Absence administration.
- Compliance: Staying current on Federal and State employment related law, administering the company Safety program in partnership with Director of Parts & Service, and ensuring training compliance is current.
- Recommending changes in the organization's personnel policies and procedures as needed, and implementing changes.
- Recommending improvements in process in all functional areas of HR.
- Alerting Management to possible areas of HR risk and recommends solutions.
- Providing supervisory direction to HR team.
What we are looking for:
- Bachelors’ degree in Business, HR, or related field required, or commensurate experience, plus minimum 5-7 years’ progressive related experience including 3 years’ HR management experience.
- Three (3) years’ proven automotive industry Human Resources experience.
- HR certification such as PHR, SHRM-CP, or similar.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws and workplace compliance.
- Excellent verbal/written communication, strong negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills; and ability to work in team environment.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
- Possess the energy and drive to accomplish goals, meet deadlines, and find solutions.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Experience with Payroll/HRIS systems such as ADP or Paycom.
- Available to work occasional weekends as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- SPHR, SHRM-SCP, or similar certification
- Automotive payroll familiarity
- Bi-lingual (Spanish) a huge plus
