Position Summary
The Engagement Team Co-op will report to the Manager of Engagement and be responsible for supporting the organization-wide engagement programs for 4,000+ employees. A successful co-op in this role will take a continuous improvement approach, taking time to evaluate current processes, and partnering with the HR Data Analytics and Operation, HR Communications, Talent Acquisition, and Learning & Development teams.
The responsibilities in this position are wide-ranging, with many different topics and types of activities/tasks, to help spearhead HR programs. Therefore, an Engagement Team Co-op needs to be able to manage multiple projects with concurrent timelines and be very detail oriented, independent, pro-active, and organized. It is also critical for this person to be able to communicate effectively both verbally and through written and graphic media (for example, presentations or reports).
The Engagement Team Co-op must have the ability to gather, organize, and present information from a variety of sources including feedback sessions, survey results, and research. This co-op may occasionally be asked to facilitate brainstorming sessions, working sessions, and decision-making conversations within and across HR teams; therefore, a successful co-op in this role will be comfortable and show skill in leading dialogues, making recommendations to people in various roles and levels, and being a good listener.
This role will contribute to new and existing projects such as\: Onboarding Program for MassDOT, Mentorship Program, Performance Management and Recognition initiatives, and Event Planning.

At the end of the internship, the Engagement Team Co-op will have been exposed to a variety of projects and programs run by the Engagement Team. The Co-op will have gained experience managing tasks in multiple concurrent projects, institutionalizing project management processes, communicating with diverse groups of stakeholders, and interacting with personnel at many levels of a government organization. They will have had the opportunity to explore the department and the organization, to contribute to a wide variety of efforts, and to transform internal processes.
In addition, depending on the person’s interests and skills, HR and other staff in the organization will assist in matching the student with appropriate projects and mentors.
