Primary Purpose:
This intern position will serve as a part-time position in which the primary responsibilities will be assisting with administrative, engagement, onboarding, communications, and special projects that enhance the overall employee experience. This internship provides hands-on exposure to human resources, onboarding, employee engagement, internal communications, and organizational systems within a regional education service center. This position will be part-time, consisting of up to 15 hours per week. For students still enrolled in a college or university, the interim student hours will be flexible with the student's schedule. We are seeking active students at West Texas A&M University or Amarillo College for this position, or students who have just graduated. This internship duration is estimated to be from June through July/August.

Qualifications:
Education/Certification
- Current college student or graduate student preferred
- Interest in Human Resources, Education, Communications, Business, Psychology, or related field
Skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Professional written and verbal communication
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
- Willingness to learn and take initiative
- Basic proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides)
- Experience with Canva, Monday.com, or social media is a plus, but not required
Working Conditions:
- Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
- Posture: Must be physically able to tolerate prolonged sitting, frequent standing; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting, and standing
- Motion: Must be physically able to tolerate frequent standing and walking, repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching, occasional driving
- Lifting: Must be physically able to tolerate regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may require occasional heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds or more)
- Environment: Must be physically able to work inside; tolerate frequent districtwide travel and occasional statewide travel; regular exposure to noise
- Mental Demands: Must be able to work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours on occasion

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist with onboarding preparation, including welcome materials, checklists, and tracking completion of required documents
- Support the organization and maintenance of employee experience files and resources (digital only)
- Assist with compiling data, reports, or summaries related to onboarding, employee engagement, or professional learning
- Support planning and preparation for employee engagement activities, events, and meetings
- Assist with creating, updating, and organizing internal resources such as guides, flyers, and toolkits
- Help gather employee feedback through surveys or informal check-ins, as directed
- Draft or proofread internal communications, including emails, newsletters, and announcements
- Assist with basic updates and organization within internal platforms such as Google Drive, Monday.com, and LinkedIn Learning
- Help organize content and documentation related to performance management, onboarding, and training
- Support short-term projects aligned to department needs and intern interests (e.g., process mapping, resource organization, engagement initiatives, or intern toolkit development)
- Participate in team meetings and engage in reflection activities to support professional learning and growth
- Maintains a functioning cell phone and is accessible through this phone as deemed appropriate by the service area director. A functioning cell phone means that it is charged, activated, messages checked, and mailbox emptied regularly.
- Reports for work ready to perform responsibilities.
- Performs duties that directly and/or indirectly impact student performance in Region 16.
- Maintains a professional level of confidentiality regarding all ESC matters.
- Supports the mission, goals, and objectives of the ESC strategic plan.
- Upholds and adheres to safety rules and policies of the ESC safety program.
- Performs professional responsibilities as required by ESC policies, processes, and procedures.
- Manages time, calendar, and job responsibilities to meet deadlines.
- Meets proficiency levels of required technology skills as outlined by the supervisor.
- Incorporates appropriate technology in daily work and exhibits continual growth in technologies as outlined by supervisor.
