Chartwell is looking for an Employee Experience Consultant (Human Resources Manager) to join our Human Resources team in Ontario. As a key partner to operations, you will play an integral role in fostering a service-oriented, inclusive, and psychologically safe workplace. You’ll help translate policy into action, support leaders and staff, and champion Chartwell’s vision, mission, and values across multiple residences.
What You’ll Do
- Provide strategic guidance on employee and labour relations, supporting managers in delivering fair, consistent, and values-driven practices.
- Act as a trusted advisor to leaders, offering coaching on performance management, progressive discipline, conflict resolution, accommodations, investigations, and terminations.
- Monitor grievance procedures, and Safe Return to Work programs, and respond to urgent employee incidents.
- Lead and support initiatives that enhance employee engagement and workplace culture, including annual surveys and workshops.
- Ensure compliance with Ontario legislation such as the ESA, OHSA, Human Rights Code, and applicable Collective Bargaining Agreements.
- Champion EDIB (Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging) initiatives while applying cultural competence and emotional intelligence.
- Use HR metrics and analytics to inform decision-making, assess risk, and drive improvements.
- Support organizational change, coaching leaders and employees through transitions and system implementations.
- Embrace technology to streamline processes and enhance employee experience.
- Draft HR documentation, correspondence, and reports, and maintain administrative systems to support a high-functioning HR environment.
What You’ll Bring
- Minimum 5 years of progressive HR experience in a generalist role with significant exposure to employee/labour relations, ideally in a multi-union, multi-site environment.
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources Management; CHRP designation is an asset.
- Deep knowledge of Ontario’s ESA, Human Rights Code, OHSA, Labour Relations Act, and WSIA.
- Demonstrated ability to resolve workplace issues with empathy, confidentiality, and integrity.
- Strong emotional intelligence and communication skills—written, verbal, and interpersonal.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with HRIS systems and digital dashboards is preferred.
- Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.
- Experience in seniors housing or healthcare settings is preferred.
- Ability to travel across assigned business platforms within Ontario.
