Job Details:

Purpose

The Student Intern supports the planning and execution of engagement events from concept through completion. This role offers hands-on experience in event operations, logistics, and venue preparation. Working closely with the Assistant Director of Events and Systems, the intern helps ensure event environments are properly staged, safe, and aligned with client expectations. Responsibilities include event setup, strike, administrative support, and general team assistance. This role offers exposure to the behind-the-scenes coordination required to deliver seamless and impactful events.

Responsibilities

Event Setup

  • Arrange tables, chairs, staging, signage, and decor according to event layouts.

  • Assist with food and beverage setup, ordering, receiving and cleanup.

  • Support AV equipment placement under supervision.

  • Ensure all materials are clean, functional, and safely positioned.

Event Strike

  • Break down and store furniture, equipment, and decorations after events.

  • Return items to designated storage areas in an organized manner.

Team Support

  • Assist the Assistant Director with timelines, project tracking, and administrative tasks.

  • Follow instructions and safety protocols during high‑traffic or time‑sensitive event periods.

  • Support team retreats, meetings, and internal events as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Current UT student in good academic standing.

  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects (50+ lbs) and stand for extended periods.

  • Availability for flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong work ethic, punctuality, and attention to detail.

  • Strong customer service with clear written and verbal communication.

  • Highly organized; able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 (Teams, Outlook, Excel, SharePoint).

  • Attention to detail in layouts, signage and brand standards.

  • Interest in event management, hospitality, or operations preferred.

Salary Range

$15.00/hour

Working conditions

  • In Office
  • Some heavy lifting may be required
  • May work around standard office conditions

Work Shift

  • 19 hours per week.
  • Position ends on 5/31/2026.
  • Some early mornings, evenings, and weekend work will be required.
