Employee Engagement & HRIS Lead – 12-Month Contract

The Role:

We’re seeking a strategic and hands-on Learning and Development professional with Workday administration experience to join our HR team in a 12-month contract role. Supporting a 800+-person healthcare organization, you’ll report to the Director of Learning & Development and play a key role in shaping and delivering impactful learning strategies.

This position is responsible for managing and optimizing HR technical systems and processes, driving staff the engagement process and designing key soft skill learning for Medcan. Reporting to the Director, Learning & Development, the Employee Engagement & HRIS Lead will be the primary Workday HR administrator and technical resource, collaborating across departments to enhance system efficiency and deliver meaningful insights. In addition to Workday, this position ensures all other HR systems such as WorkTango, AwardCo are optimized for the staff experience and to help drive business initiatives.

What You’ll Do:

HR Systems:

  • Lead the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of all HR systems, including Workday, WorkTango, SharePoint Intranet, Awardco, and future platforms.
  • Partner with HR Operations, Talent Acquisition, and Learning & Development to assess needs, gather requirements, and provide technical expertise for Workday updates and new module implementations.
  • Serve as the primary Tier 1 support contact for HR systems, collaborating closely with HR and Technology Services.
  • Project manage Workday enhancements and integrations in partnership with third-party vendors (e.g., Intecrowd, Triton, Predictive Index).
  • Ensure strong data integrity and reporting quality across all HR platforms through audits, troubleshooting, and ongoing optimization.
  • Own recurring Workday and WorkTango campaigns (training, performance, engagement, 360s), including design, configuration, rollout, and reporting.
  • Administer the corporate Recognition & Rewards program (Awardco) and co-manage the company intranet, ensuring accurate content and secure access.
  • Deliver system training, gather user insights for future improvements, and collaborate with Technology Services to explore and implement AI tools for HR

Engagement:

  • Manage the monthly Talent Spotlight newsletter to highlight staff achievements and strengthen organizational connection.
  • Develop and oversee internal communication campaigns to engage and inform employees.
  • Track staff engagement using surveys and turnover data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Co-chair the People Team committee, leading internal communications and initiatives to build a connected and motivated workforce.

Learning and Development

  • Design, implement, and manage internal communication campaigns to keep employees informed and engaged.
  • Track staff engagement using surveys and turnover data to identify key trends and improvement opportunities.

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 5–7 years of progressive HR experience, including 2–3 years focused on HR systems and employee engagement.
  • Hands-on experience managing HRIS platforms, with prior Workday administrator experience required.
  • Proven ability to design and implement employee engagement strategies.
  • Knowledge of project management tools and methodologies preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage and influence stakeholders.
  • Skilled in leading cross-functional projects and managing vendor relationships.
  • Experience with change management and driving adoption of new systems or initiatives.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with competing priorities.
  • Effective communicator between business units; adaptable and receptive to feedback.
  • Collaborative team player with the ability to work independently.

This is a contract, full-time role, 40-hours a week during regular work hours (M-F 9am-5pm). Medcan offers a hybrid work environment, with 2 days at our office located at 150 York St.

Position Pay Range

$85,122.00 - $117,042.75 CAD annually

Pay will be determined based on an analysis of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications within the role's compensation grade. Medcan's compensation ranges are determined by a combination of required qualifications and skills, market value, and internal equity. The above range pertains solely to the base compensation and is not inclusive of additional compensation details such as perks, benefits, and potential bonuses or incentives. ​
