We call our Austin, TX, headquarters home - our dog-friendly office is centrally located north of downtown and features an open and collaborative floor plan, fully stocked kitchen, and on-site fitness room. This role is in-office Mondays through Thursdays, with a work from home day on Friday, if desired.  This role is based in Austin, TX.  


About the Role

The Director of People Operations will lead the entire spectrum of the People function, including talent acquisition, employee lifecycle, performance and engagement, leadership development and HR compliance.


This role will act as a strategic partner to the leaders at Billd while remaining "hands-on" with the tactical execution of our People Ops roadmap. Your mission: to ensure Billd is the most rewarding professional experience of our employees' lives. This role will report directly to the CEO and is a great opportunity for professional growth. 


Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure we have the very best people in all positions
  • Manage employee lifecycle processes including hiring, onboarding, promotion and termination processes
  • Oversee Billd’s performance management program, ensuring that individual performance aligns with company objectives 
  • Own the recruiting process end-to-end
  • Develop, nurture, and steer a positive and high performance company culture that aligns with Billd’s values and promotes employee engagement
  • Support Billd’s culture committee and ERG groups
  • Enable leaders to cascade communication to employees on company mission, values, changes, and other initiatives
  • Provide guidance on people-related issues and policies across all functional areas, ensuring alignment with the company’s goals and compliance with legal standards
  • Manage the company HR systems (BambooHR), policies, and company programs, ensuring all HR records are accurate, complete, and secure 
  • Enable people managers and employees with training and development initiatives
  • Ensure employees are equipped with the resources to be successful in their roles and to grow and develop in their careers


Skills and Qualifications

  • 6+ years of People Operations experience in high-growth, fast-paced environments (FinTech or SaaS experience is a plus)
  • Proven track record as an HR generalist with a broad range of People Operations experience
  • Experience recruiting and a solid understanding of the Austin, TX talent market is highly preferred
  • Strong background in HR compliance
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, HR, or Organizational Development a plus
