Position Summary
We are seeking a Director of Human Resources (People & Culture) to help strengthen and advance our co-op's workplace culture and strategy. As a key member of the senior leadership team and a strategic partner to the CEO, this role leads the organization's people strategy in support of our mission, cooperative values and long-term success.
This is a senior HR leadership role with broad impact across the organization. The Director will foster a workplace where employees feel respected, supported and connected to the co-op's purpose, while guiding and enhancing the systems that support hiring, employee development, performance management and engagement.
The Director oversees the full scope of Human Resources - including employee relations, learning and development, performance management, compensation and benefits, talent acquisition, payroll, compliance and reporting - while leading and developing the HR team and serving as a trusted advisor and coach to leaders across the organization.

Schedule: Monday - Friday business hours. Flexibility required to meet business needs. May work remotely up to one day per week.
Qualifications
Deep Human Resources Expertise
Extensive experience across the full HR landscape - talent acquisition, leadership development, succession planning, performance management, employee relations, compensation and benefits, payroll, HR technology, compliance and employment law - with the ability to strengthen systems that support both people and performance.
Strategic and Organizational Leadership
Proven ability to translate organizational goals into effective people strategies. Experience leading and developing a team, driving cross-functional initiatives, managing complex projects and prioritizing effectively at the executive level.
Trusted Advisor and Relationship Builder
A collaborative leader who builds strong partnerships across all levels of the organization. Known for sound judgment, integrity, confidentiality, and the ability to coach, communicate clearly and navigate sensitive situations with professionalism and calm.
Data-Informed and Equity-Driven
Skilled at using data, metrics and feedback to guide decisions and improve outcomes. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, with the ability to foster a welcoming and culturally competent workplace.
Preferred Qualifications
Advanced Education and Professional Credentials
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human Resources or a related field, and/or SHRM, PHR, or equivalent certification.
Complex Organizational Experience
Experience leading HR in a union environment, managing organizational consolidations or large-scale change and ensuring compliance with federal, state and local employment laws.
Operational and Technical Strength
Strong project leadership experience from design through implementation and measurement. Familiarity with cloud-based HRIS and applicant tracking systems.

Physical and Working Requirements
The position involves frequent stationary tasks, along with regular movement throughout the offices, sales floor, stock areas, kitchen and classrooms. Occasional positioning is to access both low and high shelving, equipment and products. The job also entails the occasional movement of containers weighing up to 30 lbs. The Director of Human Resources (People & Culture) may utilize various equipment including but not limited to computers and printers. This role requires exchanging accurate information in person, over the phone and through email and other written communication. Additionally, the position is designated as staff to be contacted in emergency situations, must have the ability to travel between locations and must meet the Mississippi Market's safe driver requirements.
