The Opportunity

 

This is a high-impact HR leadership role across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.

In Germany and Austria, you’ll be the HRD, with direct accountability for Payroll, administration, local HRBPs, and the full HR function. In Switzerland, you’ll lead through a local HRD who holds the full scope.

Based in Frankfurt, you'll oversee a total HR team of approximately 50 professionals supporting over 3,200 employees across the DACH region, ensuring seamless delivery across all Worldline business lines.

Success in this position requires exceptional negotiation skills to effectively engage with works councils and employee representative bodies, aligning global HR strategies with local requirements. Given our matrix organisation structure, strong stakeholder management capabilities and collaborative approach with peers are essential.

 

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

 

• Translate Group and business lines HR strategy into local implementation across the DACH cluster, with strong focus on Germany

• Be the driving force behind our transformation agenda, demonstrating a change mindset and ensuring teams are equipped for the future state

• Lead critical labour relations initiatives and negotiate complex agreements with employee representatives, leveraging co-determination principles in Germany's highly regulated environment

• Work closely with business leaders across multiple stakeholder environments, demonstrating strong business acumen to support decision-making

• Support HR transformation initiatives including team development, upskilling, and optimising processes through automation and AI-enabled solutions whilst transitioning administrative activities to our Romania-based HR Services Centre

• Ensure digital transformation within HR operations, leveraging technology to enhance efficiency and employee experience

• Manage comprehensive HR operations spanning admin, payroll, compensation and benefits, people development, and local HRBPs

• Drive compliance with HR budget, maintain data quality, and provide actionable insights through HR metrics and advanced analytics across the DACH region

 

Who Are We Looking For

• Experienced HR leader (10+) with strong transformation and change management capabilities, ideally from manufacturing industry or financial institutions

• Exceptional labour relations expertise - proven track record in negotiating complex agreements and managing organisational change in highly regulated environments

• Deep expertise in German co-determination and works council management

• Experience in managing large teams, ideally across multiple sites

• Strong knowledge of German employment law and experience in aligning global HR policies with local requirements

• Outstanding stakeholder management skills with ability to navigate complex organisational dynamics, balance competing interests whilst maintaining relationships across matrix organisations

• Strategic mindset with strong business acumen, curiosity to understand operations, and openness to leverage AI and automation to enhance HR effectiveness

• Experience in digital HR transformation, including automation of administrative processes and data-driven decision making

• High-level communication and diplomacy skills

• Proficient in German and English. Experienced using these languages in a professional, cross-cultural context.
