POSITION: Coordinator of Professional Learning and Talent Development

 

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

 

The Coordinator of Professional Learning and Talent Development oversees the planning, implementation, coordination, and evaluation of district-wide professional learning and educator development initiatives. The position supports educator growth across all career stages through induction, mentoring, leadership development, professional learning opportunities, and strategic partnerships. The Coordinator works collaboratively with district and school leaders to strengthen educator capacity, advance recruitment and retention efforts, and ensure professional learning opportunities align with district priorities and state requirements.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE:

 

  • Coordinates the planning, design, implementation, and evaluation of district-wide professional learning opportunities for certificated and support staff.
  • Collaborates with district and school leaders to identify professional learning priorities and develop meaningful learning experiences that support individual and organizational growth.
  • Coordinates and oversees the district’s new educator comprehensive induction program, including orientation, onboarding, and ongoing support for beginning teachers.
  • Provides training, resources, and support for mentors and educators participating in induction and mentoring programs.
  • Coordinates and supports leadership development for emerging teacher leaders, aspiring administrators, and other staff seeking leadership and career advancement opportunities within the school system.
  • Coordinates district support systems for educators pursuing National Board Certification and other advanced professional credentials.
  • Serves as liaison with institutions of higher education and educator preparation programs to support student teacher placements, internships, and recruitment partnerships.
  • Collaborates with Human Resources and district leadership to support educator recruitment, onboarding, retention, and workforce development initiatives.
  • Assists with the coordination of educator pipeline programs and partnerships that support future educator recruitment and development.
  • Maintains records, program documentation, participation data, and reports related to professional learning, mentoring, induction, and talent development programs.
  • Evaluates program effectiveness through participant feedback, data analysis, and continuous improvement processes.
  • Attends conferences, workshops, meetings, and professional learning opportunities as required.
  • Reports to the Chief Academic Officer(s) and performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Maryland State Department of Education Administrator I certification.
  • Minimum of five years of successful teaching experience.
  • Knowledge of effective adult learning practices, educator development programs, induction and mentoring, leadership development, professional learning, and the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future.
  • Exceptional communication, facilitation, organizational, project management, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build collaborative relationships across departments and with external partners.

DUTY YEAR AND SALARY:

 

This is a 12-month benefitted position paid from the Teacher Salary Scale plus responsibility factor.
