TEAM
The Employee Engagement, Events, and Communications Assistant Manager role sits on the Woven by Toyota Communications & Marketing team and reports to the Head of Global Internal Communications. The Communications & Marketing team supports Woven by Toyota’s business, ensuring our purpose, vision, mission, and values are clearly communicated and embraced by all stakeholders. The team is a critical player in supporting Woven by Toyota’s role in Toyota’s transformation into a mobility company. 

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Woven by Toyota is seeking a bilingual, creative, and highly organized Employee Engagement, Events, and Communications Assistant Manager to join our Internal Communications team in Japan. 

In this role, you’ll shape a connected, informed, and inspired employee experience by managing internal digital communication channels and supporting internal engagement initiatives. You are a strong storyteller in both Japanese and English, with an eye for detail and a passion for helping people feel connected - whether through engaging employee interviews, Slack communities, or thoughtfully supported internal events. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Partner with business leaders to advise on communications strategies and tactics to drive employee engagement within lines of businesses 
    • Support and advise business teams on communications for internal events such as Town Halls, Global All Hands, and employee events
    • Manage the internal editorial calendar, aligning stories with business milestones and global communication goals
    • Write and publish internal news articles, intranet posts, digital flyers, Slack posts, and updates in both Japanese and English
    • Manage channel content and engagement, ensuring timely, relevant, and employee-centric communication
    • Plan and execute local employee experiences such as Family & Friends Day and office activations in collaboration with key stakeholders
    • Maintain and update content on the intranet platform and consult with teams to optimize their pages for engagement
    • Ensure consistency in tone, timing, and messaging across all internal channels
    • Collaborate closely with the global Communications & Marketing team and cross-functional partners to deliver coordinated communications
    • (Bonus) Contribute creative ideas and content formats, including videos, visuals, or podcast-style features

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • 6+ years of experience in internal communications, employee engagement, event coordination, or related roles
    • Professional-level Japanese and English fluency, with strong writing and editing skills in both languages
    • Experience working with internal digital tools like Notion, Staffbase, and Slack
    • Proven ability to support and advise on employee events with strong attention to communication strategy and execution
    • Excellent organizational and project management skills
    • A collaborative, proactive mindset with the ability to work across cultures and time zones
    • Attention to detail and pride in delivering high-quality work
