About the Role

As Assistant Human Resources Manager (Learning & Engagement Focus), you will play a meaningful role in shaping colleague experiences across their journey—through learning, engagement, and early career development. 

This role partners closely with leaders and teams to design and deliver learning initiatives, foster colleague engagement, and manage internship programmes that attract and nurture future talent. You will help create an environment where colleagues feel connected, inspired, and supported to be at their best. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

Learning & Development 

  • Support the planning, coordination, and delivery of learning and development initiatives aligned with Shangri-La's culture and business priorities 

  • Coordinate and facilitate training programmes including onboarding, service culture, leadership development, and functional training 

  • Facilitate selected training sessions and workshops, creating engaging and meaningful learning experiences 

  • Support talent development initiatives such as succession planning, high potential development, and career pathways 

  • Evaluate training effectiveness and continuously enhance programmes based on feedback and learning insights 

Colleague Engagement & Culture 

  • Support the design and execution of colleague engagement initiatives that foster joy, belonging, and team connection 

  • Coordinate recognition, appreciation, and culture building programmes that reinforce Shangri-La values 

  • Partner with department heads to drive engagement activities and strengthen team morale 

  • Support internal communications related to learning, engagement, and people initiatives 

Internship Programme & Early Talent 

  • Coordinate the recruitment and selection of interns in partnership with educational institutions and internal stakeholders 

  • Facilitate structured onsite internship programmes, ensuring a meaningful learning and engagement experience for interns 

  • Organise internship onboarding, learning exposure, rotations, and engagement activities 

  • Act as a key point of contact for interns, mentors, and departments, supporting performance feedback and programme evaluation 

  • Support conversion of high potential interns into future talent pipelines where appropriate 

HR & Operational Support 

  • Support HR projects and people initiatives beyond L&D and engagement as required 

  • Maintain accurate learning, engagement, and internship records and reports 

  • Coordinate external vendors, trainers, and programme logistics 

  • Ensure all programmes align with company guidelines and local requirements 

 

About You 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Training & Development, Business Administration, or a related discipline 

  • 4–6 years of experience in Learning & Development, HR, or colleague engagement, preferably in hospitality or a service oriented environment 

  • Strong passion for people development, engagement, and early career talent 

  • Experience in organising and facilitating training and engagement activities 

  • Exposure to internship, graduate, or early talent programmes is an advantage 

  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills 

  • A positive, people oriented mindset with high energy and emotional intelligence 

  • Well-organized, detail minded, and able to manage multiple initiatives 

  • Proficiency in HR systems and Microsoft Office applications 

  • Good command of English and Chinese (Cantonese required; Putonghua an advantage)
