The Assistant Human Resources Director is responsible for the day-to-day supervision of the department’s personnel. Support all County departments by assisting the Human Resources Director with risk management, employee relations, and personnel guidance.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Public Administration, or Business Administration and five years of increasingly responsible experience in Human Resources; Preferred professional certifications such as PHR, SPHR.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of personnel law and supervisory doctrines; county government; general office practices and procedures. Skill or ability to: Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines; effectively supervise staff members; teach others; maintain records; use word processing, spreadsheet functions, email systems and web-based programs; read and understand instructions; analyze and interpret data; effectively communicate in writing and verbally; work independently in the absence of specific instructions; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with elected officials, department directors, County employees and the general public.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Maintain the ability to occasionally stand, walk, kneel, and bend during the shift; Reach, grip and use fine dexterity; Push and pull objects; Occasionally flex upper trunk forward at the waist and partially at the knees; Occasionally lift and carry up to 20 pounds; Occasionally rotate upper trunk to the left or right while sitting or standing; place arms above, at or below shoulder height; Use of vision and depth perception; and Talking and hearing.
