Employer Branding Manager Salary Guide
Employer branding manager salaries vary enormously by source, seniority and geography, but the useful range to work with is roughly $90,000 to $150,000 in the US and £33,000 to £55,000 in the UK for manager-level roles, rising well beyond that at director and head level. The gap between the low and high end of that range isn't noise. It mostly comes down to company size, sector, and how senior the "manager" title actually is at that particular employer.
This guide walks through what the major salary sources actually say, why they disagree with each other by as much as double, and what genuinely moves your pay up or down.

Why employer branding salary data is messier than most roles
Four separate salary sources were checked for this guide, covering close variants of the same job title. The US figures alone ranged from an average of $55,952 (ZipRecruiter) to a median of $149,368 (Glassdoor). That's not four sources converging on one number with rounding differences. It's four different populations of job ads and self-reported salaries, and the gap is largely explained by two things.
First, title matching. Searching "Employer Branding Manager" versus "Employer Brand Manager" pulls in different sets of listings on the same platform, and the two searches returned meaningfully different medians on both Glassdoor and Indeed during this research. Employer branding doesn't have the standardised title conventions of, say, "Product Manager," so aggregator tools that match on exact title strings end up sampling different slices of the market depending on which string you search.
Second, seniority compression. Because plenty of companies still have only one person doing this job (a point covered in more detail in our career path guide), a "Manager" title at one employer can carry director-level scope and pay, while at another it's the sole specialist-level hire. Salary aggregators can't see that distinction. They only see the job title.
The practical takeaway: treat any single salary number you see quoted online, including the ones below, as one data point rather than a verdict. Read the range, and weigh where your own role sits within it.
United States: what the data shows
| Source | Title searched | Average / median | Range shown |
|---|---|---|---|
| Glassdoor | Employer Branding Manager | $123,031 median total pay | $92,000-$170,000 total pay |
| Glassdoor | Employer Brand Manager | $149,368 median total pay | $112,026-$209,115 total pay |
| PayScale | Employer Brand Manager | $115,000 average base | $70,000-$225,000 (10th-90th percentile) |
| ZipRecruiter | Employer Branding Manager | $55,952 average | $38,000-$60,000 (25th-75th percentile) |
PayScale's experience-banded figures are the most useful single data point for tracking progression: early-career (1-4 years) averages $99,809, rising to $129,263 for mid-career (5-9 years). Glassdoor's "Employer Brand Manager" breakdown shows a similar shape, from $88,000-$118,000 at 1-3 years up to $139,000-$166,000 at 10-14 years.
The ZipRecruiter figure sits well below the other three, most likely because its listing-matching approach pulls in a broader mix of junior and coordinator-level postings under the same title string, not because the role itself pays that little. Treat it as a lower bound for entry-level or smaller-employer postings rather than a typical manager salary.
At the top end, large in-house tech employers pull the average up sharply: Glassdoor's company breakdown shows Meta at a $292,000 median and Amazon at $212,000 for roles matching this title, both well above the broader market and not representative of a typical mid-market employer.
United Kingdom: what the data shows
| Source | Title searched | Average | Range shown |
|---|---|---|---|
| Glassdoor UK | Employer Branding Manager | £33,176 average base | £24,000-£45,000 base; £18,451-£59,652 total |
| Glassdoor UK | Employer Brand Manager | £51,140 average total pay | £38,000-£55,000 base |
| Indeed UK | Head of Employer Branding, London | £67,286 average | Single figure, London only |
The same title-matching problem shows up here too: "Employer Branding Manager" returns a noticeably lower figure than "Employer Brand Manager" on the same platform, most likely because the "-ing" variant is skewing towards more junior or generalist listings. A reasonable working range for a UK manager-level role is roughly £33,000-£55,000, moving towards £65,000-plus once the role carries head-of or director scope, particularly in London.
Singapore and the rest of APAC: a genuine data gap
None of the major salary aggregators checked for this guide, including Glassdoor, PayScale and Indeed, publish a dedicated salary breakdown for "Employer Branding Manager" in Singapore or the wider APAC region. The regional recruitment salary guides checked don't break the title out separately either; where employer branding appears at all, it tends to be folded into broader marketing, communications or HR benchmarks rather than reported as its own line.
That absence is itself informative. It reflects the same point made in our career path guide: employer branding is a less mature, less consistently titled discipline in much of APAC than it is in the US or UK, and dedicated headcount for the function is still comparatively rare outside large multinationals and regional hubs like Singapore. Candidates and hiring managers in the region are better served benchmarking against comparable marketing or HR manager bands at a given company and adjusting for scope, rather than relying on a title-specific figure that doesn't yet exist in the public data.

What actually moves the number
A handful of factors show up consistently across the sources checked:
Company size and sector. In-house employer branding roles at large, well-known employers (particularly consumer tech and other high-volume hirers) pay well above the market median. Smaller employers and agencies typically pay closer to the lower end of the ranges above.
Seniority and scope, not just years. PayScale and Glassdoor both show a step up in pay once a role moves from managing a channel or programme to owning a budget and a team, echoing the scope changes described in our career path guide. Years of experience correlate with this, but scope is the more direct driver.
Geography. US figures run well ahead of UK figures even after currency conversion, and the data gap in Singapore/APAC means candidates there are working with less precise benchmarks than their US or UK counterparts.
Qualifications and specialisation. PayScale notes that advanced degrees and people-management experience both correlate with higher pay, though neither source quantifies this precisely enough to state a reliable premium.
How to use these numbers
Given how much the figures above disagree with each other, the most reliable approach is to treat them as a range rather than a target: roughly $90,000-$150,000 for a genuine manager-level role in the US, £33,000-£55,000 in the UK, moving up meaningfully at director or head level in either market. Then adjust for the specific factors above, your own company's size and sector, and how much real budget and team ownership the role actually carries, whatever the title on the job ad says.
