A small, but growing technology business is looking for a People & Culture Manager to join a friendly, energetic and non-corporate working environment. The role is based in Bryanston, Johannesburg, with a hybrid working model. The team includes highly skilled consultants, developers, project managers, sales professionals and support staff.


The main focus is career development, organisational planning, performance management and people operations. It will suit an energetic, hands-on people person who enjoys working closely with employees and management, but who is equally strong when it comes to administration, detail and follow-through.

Duties / Key Responsibilities

  1. Career planning and talent development
  2. Organisational planning and workforce forecasting
  3. Performance, reviews and regular check-ins
  4. Employee relations, wellbeing and conflict support
  5. Recruitment, onboarding and retention
  6. HR administration, governance and payroll support

Requirements

  • At least 5 years' relevant HR, People & Culture, organisational development or HR business partnering experience.
  • Practical experience with career paths, competency frameworks, development planning, talent reviews or succession planning.
  • Experience coordinating performance reviews and regular check-ins.
  • Sound employee relations experience, including workplace conflict, grievances and disciplinary matters.
  • Working knowledge of South African labour legislation and HR best practice.
  • Strong administration, documentation and attention to detail.
  • Experience in technology, ERP, consulting, professional services or another knowledge-worker environment would be advantageous.
  • Exposure to workforce planning, organisation design, leadership development, Employment Equity or HR systems would be beneficial.
  • Payroll knowledge is useful, but payroll processing remains with Finance.

Education

A recognised degree or diploma in Human Resources, Human Capital Management, Industrial Psychology, Psychology, Organisational Development or a closely related field. A degree is preferred.

Soft Skills

Energetic, approachable and a natural people person who enjoys a less corporate environment. Strong communication and emotional intelligence are important, together with excellent organisation, administration and attention to detail. The person should be confident dealing with highly qualified professionals and senior leaders, while handling sensitive matters with discretion.
