BUSY At Work is looking for a passionate and proactive Community Engagement Officer in our Southeast Melbourne and Peninsula region to help strengthen our community presence, grow referral pathways and connect young people aged 15–24 with the support they need to move into education, training and employment.
This is a role for someone who loves being out in the community, building trusted partnerships and turning local connections into meaningful outcomes.
About the Role
As our Community Engagement Officer, you will play a key role in increasing awareness of the Transition to Work program and generating consistent referrals of eligible young people into our caseload.
You will work closely with schools, youth services, community organisations, industry groups and local service networks to build strong relationships, host community meetings and information sessions, and identify opportunities that support young people to access the right pathways at the right time.
This role is central to strengthening BUSY’s brand visibility and community presence across the region. You will develop and implement a regional community engagement plan, with clear weekly targets for stakeholder engagement, referral partner activity, community meetings and attraction strategies.
This role is full time, fixed term until 31st of October 2028 with the possibility of extension, based in our Dandenong office.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Build strong relationships with local schools, community organisations, youth services, industry groups and referral partners
- Grow awareness of the Transition to Work program and increase referrals of eligible young people
- Develop local community engagement plans with weekly activity targets
- Host local expos, information sessions, stakeholder meetings and communities of practice
- Strengthen BUSY’s brand presence and visibility across the region
- Identify emerging local trends, youth participation barriers and labour market needs
- Work collaboratively with internal teams to support caseload growth, engagement and program outcomes

Skills And Experiences
About You
You will be someone who is confident, energetic and relationship focused. You know how to bring people together, open doors and build trust across community and industry networks.
- Demonstrated experience engaging with community, youth services, employment services, education, training or related fields
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Confidence working with schools, key community groups and service partners
- A genuine passion for supporting young people to build confidence, capability and independence
- The ability to work to targets and deliver meaningful outcomes
- A current open driver’s licence and willingness to travel across the region
