What will I do? 

 

You will lead Gropen’s Human Resources function in a fast-paced design-build environment, supporting teams across design, engineering, fabrication, installation, and operations. You will oversee all core HR activities—including recruiting skilled trades and professional staff, employee relations, performance management, compensation and benefits, compliance, and training—while ensuring policies and practices support safety, quality, and operational excellence. Partnering closely with leadership and frontline managers, you will strengthen engagement, reinforce accountability, and help scale people processes that support growth, collaboration, and a strong, inclusive workplace culture. This role requires a combination of HR generalist expertise, technical payroll experience, exceptional judgment, and well-developed interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, a clear communicator, and a creative problem-solver. 

 

Within this role, your responsibilities will include: 

  • Serving as strategic advisor to leadership on HR-related matters
  • Crafting and adapting company policies and processes to ensure compliance & safety while fostering employee & company well-being
  • Identifying and anticipating personnel issues and providing resourceful solutions
  • Management of payroll and benefits programs
  • Ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all payroll-related activities
  • Contributing meaningfully to business strategy and organizational planning initiatives
  • Collaborating with leadership on evolving consistent frameworks, methodologies, and best practices for organizational effectiveness
  • Leading hiring/workforce planning initiatives


 

Required Qualifications and Skills 

  • 5+ years of relevant HR professional experience
  • Organizational development & strategic HR experience
  • Diligence in accuracy and compliance with exceptional organizational skills
  • Ability to review & process payroll with meticulous attention to detail
  • Demonstrate natural leadership and ability to both self-direct and guide others
  • Ability to synthesize and communicate complex information & ideas
  • High emotional IQ
  • Ability to solve challenges efficiently and gracefully
  • Familiarity and understanding of safety and OSHA compliance
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 or similar platform (such as Google Workspace)

 

Stand-Out Qualifications and Skills  

  • SHRM Certification or equivalent
  • Prior advisory experience in HR and payroll 
  • Experience in fabrication and/or signage setting 
  • Organizational change/change management leadership experience
